Red 7 Media Adds to Senior Management Team

Industry Leaders to Lead Rapidly Growing Company

NORWALK, CT -- Red 7 Media, headquartered here, has named three senior executives to help lead the company. Founded only four years ago, Red 7 has grown to become one of the largest magazine companies in Connecticut.

David Evans, who joined the company earlier this year, was named Managing Director, Events and Corporate Strategy. He will be responsible for Red 7’s conferences, trade shows and custom event business, as well as working with the company’s leadership team on developing strategic growth initiatives.

Evans has more than two decades of experience in content development and event management, having created and managed events at BusinessWeek, where he was Managing Director of Conferences and Exhibitions; Gruner & Jahr Publishing USA, where he was President, Business Resources responsible for events at Inc Magazine (including the Inc 500 conference), Fast Company Magazine, among others; The Industry Standard, where he was Vice President of Conferences; and most recently at Thomson Media, where he as Managing Director of Conferences & Exhibitions. He has also held senior editorial positions at leading business publications, including Executive Editor of Canadian Business and Editor-in-Chief of Adweek Publications.

"David brings a wealth of experience creating and managing high-profile events at some of the world's leading media brands," noted Red 7 Media president & CEO Kerry Smith. "He will be instrumental in helping us take our existing events to a new level while also working with the team to launch new conferences and custom events."

Jim Alkon has joined the company as Publishing Director of the Event Group. He will be responsible for sales and strategic initiatives for the company's magazines covering the event sector, including Event Marketer, Event Design, and the recently acquired Agenda USA publications.

Jim has a successful track record of leadership on both the editorial and business side of publishing, having served as Group Publisher of Meeting News, Editor of Business Travel News, Senior VP at PBI Media (Dynamic Media Division), and Group Publisher at Questex Media, among other senior positions. At Red 7, he will work with the event-group publishers and the sales teams to develop strategic growth initiatives around their media brands.

"We're excited to have someone with Jim's experience join our team," said Smith. "He knows the event space, and he's a proven and well-regarded leader. He will be a tremendous resource for our event-group publishers as they develop their businesses and their teams."

Linda Lie joins Red 7 as Chief Financial Officer. Lie will be responsible for the financial health of the company and working with the senior management team on acquisitions, launches and other growth initiatives.

Lie has a wealth of experience in senior financial positions at companies large and small, including The Jim Henson Company, BMG Entertainment, Primedia, The Media Planning Group (div. of Havas Advertising) and Sababa Toys. She began her career in finance at Ernst & Young, where she was Senior Accountant; and Goldman Sachs, where she was Senior Financial Analyst.

"Linda joins the company at a key time in our growth," commented Smith. "Her background is well suited for our fast-paced entrepreneurial culture and she will ensure that we continue to build our business on a sound financial foundation."
